What does a yellow rose/ flower symbolize?

what does other flower colors symbolize?

What does a yellow rose/ flower symbolize?
Yellow represents friendship.
Reply:yellow is friendship.

white is purity.

red is love.

pink is grace/happiness.

orange is desire.
Reply:Ah, the language of roses!

Let's see: A red rose means love, a yellow rose means friendship, a white rose means fidelity and purity. Then there are Peace roses and Tea roses that can mean just about whatever you want them to. So-if you want to send a family member a special gift of roses, make them yellow. If you just want to impress someone, like your wife, on an anniversary make them red (the longer stem, the more "oolala!") If you plan on proposing marriage to someone a dozen longstemmed red roses with one white in the center usually gets the point across.

Oh, and one red rose properly presented is an outright proposition. Watch out for that one.

Daisies (both yellow and white) with which pink or fuchsia flower?

Sorry, again but this time for the people in the garden section. I want flower arrangements with yellow and white daisies (the little ones not gerberas) but also a pink or fuchsia flower. I think they need a hint of color... Any recomendations? Thanks.

Daisies (both yellow and white) with which pink or fuchsia flower?
you can add gerberas for extra colour and I think they would look nice with "normal" daisies

carnations are also nice (I don't like bunches of carnations alone but mixed they add nice colour)

snapdragons are interesting looking and colourful

sweet peas are adorable

with daises I would add something "natural" looking, I think something like an orchid would look wrong together
Reply:if lilacs are in bloom they would be grand; if not, a few pink roses
Reply:Daisies are small flowers so think small. I wouldn'tv choose fuchia because it will kill the delicate look of the daisies
Reply:The best way that I have to add this color in this type of format with these flowers is:

Use a clear vase with the glass colored beads in the color that you are striving for.

However, you could possiblely use maybe carnations that have been dyed.

Can you identify this yellow flowering tree?

I live on the California central coast and a friend gave me one of the many little trees that pop up from tree's bean-like seeds.

My tree is now over 8 feet tall and wide after 2 years. The blossoms are 5-petal school bus yellow about 1.5" and in cooler weather the whole tree is covered with hundreds. The blooms are in clusters of about 20. The dark green leaves

are like on locusts trees, only smaller, in strands opposite each other. The strands are 3" long. The beans, 1/2" across, 5" long, drop off in fall.

The tree architecture is open. It seems full from a distance but upclose it is easy to see right thru the tree. The branches a warm gray, very slim and when loaded with blooms tend to droop a bit.

I tried our county extension service, and looked at hundreds of photos online. It must be a native tree because plant/seed companies don't seem to have it. The stamen is green and about inch long.

My friend calls it the "popcorn tree" but it looks nothing like what I find online

Can you identify this yellow flowering tree?
Check out the yellow Oleander.
Reply:Try this one:

"Bulnesia arborea - Verawood

This graceful, yellow/orange-flowering tree is native to Colombia and Venezuela. Foliage and flowers are both highly prized as is the timber. Beautiful specimen tree to about 40 feet. Zygophyllaceae family. Drought tolerant once established."

BTW, really nice flowers! Love it.
Reply:Sounds like it might be a laburnum, or golden chain tree. You didn't describe the flowers, but from the fruit and the described similarity of leaves to locust it seems like something in the Fabaceae.

Orchid changing colour. My Lovely Orchid white with purple has just produced a pale yellow flower?

The orchid is about 4 years old, has lived in the same place, most of this time, has produced up to 33 blooms most years. Is it dying ? Or changing back to it's wild state.

I don't know much about orchids, but

a lot of plants have pigments that are

pH sensitive in their color. Hydrangeas

for example. Maybe orchids are similar.

You might want to check the pH of the

medium that you are growing it in

and maybe do some research on the

net to see if orchids can be that way.

I suppose it could also be other things

in the growth medium that may have

changed.

October wedding in Texas.Suggestions for purple, blue, yellow, orange, pink flowers? Main color dark purple...

I am getting married in Oct. in Fort Worth, TX. I am looking for purple flowers mostly, with some suggestions for bright blue, magenta, yellow and orange too. My main color is dark purple, so I want to stay away from pastel lavender or lilac. I'm not a huge fan of roses, but I'm going to be making my own bouquet so I want flowers that are easy to work with. Here are some bouquets I like to give you an idea of what I'm looking for:

Calla Lilies are very nice and come in a variety of purples to blue-ish. They also have stems in orange and yellow. You could use roses, carnations, daisies, mums or anything else to fill in if you like.
Reply:October's flowers are cosmos and marigolds if you want to keep with the month .

Congratulations!
Reply:try lillies or carnations you have them died to whatever color that you want and i couldnt see your pics cuz i am not registering
Reply:I would get some yellow roses as well as they represent the southern belle.. The yellow rose of texas. Yellow and purple are exact opposites on the color wheel so they actually compliment each other well.
Reply:I love hydrangea not a typical wedding flower but they are beautiful
Reply:I'm a wedding coach in California but have family in Ft Worth!! Congrats and get ready for a whirlwind of activity surrounding your special day. Have you thought of Calla Lillies? Here is a link to a pretty bouquet. http://www.flowersbyjoanne.net/images/We...

The bouquet could be fresh or Silk. If you wrap the stems with ribbons of your corresponding colors and let the ribbons trail down it would really be elegant.
Reply:I am a JP, and when it comes to flowers, your florist is the best to ask. Throughout the year there is a variety of flowers that are good. Some flowers that are good for spring are not good for fall, as with any other season. Talk to a florist.

Reply:Too bad your wedding isn't during blue bonnet season!

But for blue flowers you can try Irises, bluebells, for yellow theres daffodils, tulips, esparanza, lilies.

Magenta and orange you can get lillies.

What makes the Dandelion yellow? What family of flower is it from?

Ever wonder what sort of flower our spring/summer friend is? What makes it yellow, then make it a dust of tiny seeds blowing in the wind to populate fields next season? What is that sticky glue looking ooze when you pick the tuberous flower?

What makes the Dandelion yellow? What family of flower is it from?
They are in the aster family, what makes them yellow?%26gt;%26gt;God. Believe it or not the seeds are actually sold in some places for an edible crop. Thick leaves are blanched and eaten like endive, Tender young leaves may be eaten in salad. My grandfather made wine from them but the recipe is long lost.I personally love them, I think the fields that are dotted with them in the spring sing with color!

God Bless

Why are some flowers yellow? From Cristin C. 1st grade?

Flowers try to attract insects that will pollinate them. They do this by being bright colors that insects will notice, and by having sweet smells that insects like. Yellow is a common color for flowers because it is bright and easy for insects to see.

Why are some flowers yellow? From Cristin C. 1st grade?
There are different pigments that can cause the color yellow, check out this web page:

http://www.orchidtrek.com/color/color.ht...

"Sometimes, anthocyanins produce yellowish color as we see in Coelogyne speciosa. picture"

As for why they are yellow chemically, the light that comes from the sun has many different colors in it. Those chemicals reflect the yellow light and absorb the other colors so we see the yellow.
Reply:Plastids are organelles that occur only in plants. Their most prominent members are the chloroplasts. Chromoplasts are red, orange or yellow plastids. The color is usually the result of yellow xantophyll and yellow to red carotinoids.
Reply:Why shouldn't some flowers be yellow?

Flowers are bright and colourful to attract pollinating insects like bees.
Reply:well three reason. the first is that it does not have the green pigment which other flowers have.second,it is able to absorb all the colours of light except yellow, which it reflects. third,God made it so.
Reply:flower have some thing that some colors of sunlight can't across from it and in yellow flowers it is yellow and we see it in that color.

How do I safely clean artificial flowers?

White flowers turned yellow from cigarette smoke.

Flowers are permanently glued in a vase with green leaves.

I do not want to ruin the leaves or vase by spraying bleach.

What else can I use?

How do I safely clean artificial flowers?
If you are afraid to use water and a mild soap, because you think that you will destroy them, then you can go to a specialized shop (or even visit an e-shop at e-bay or amazon) and have a look for a specific product. Just be sure not to spend more than what the entire pot with with the flowers costs.

Usually, dry cleaning is working in "fresh dirty".

Reply:You can get one of those special cleaners, but I've found that just swooshing them around in a sink with a mild detergent works just fine. Since yours are glued in, it might be a bit awkward, but I believe it's do-able. Just grab the vase with one hand, the stems with the other, invert and swoosh the flowers only, not the vase.
Reply:i guess, you can try bleach on a piece of cloth, to target only the areas you want, (after the water hose for the dust)
Reply:a fine spray with the garden hose works for me, to get the dust off. set in smoke you won't get entirely off

Reply:In order to breed yellow-seeded rapeseed, 16 yellow-seeded lines of Brassica napus L. derived from eight genetic sources were used. The genetic variation of the seedcoat ratio, the cellulose content of the seedcoat, the oil content of the seedcoat and of the embryo, and also the correlations between these characters of the yellow- and brown-seeded plants from the same line, were analysed by variance analysis and path analysis. The results show that the seedcoat ratio and cellulose content of brown seeds are 4.2% and 17.74%, respectively, higher than that of yellow seeds and the oil content of the seedcoat of brown seeds is 3% lower than that of the yellow seeds, these differences all being highly significant. However, the differences between yellow and brown seeds in 1000-seed weight and oil content of the embryo were very small. Both characters are determined mainly by the genetic background and not by seed colour or seedcoat thickness. The correlation analysis revealed that the seedcoat thickness has a highly significant positive correlation with the cellulose content of the seedcoat and is highly significantly negatively correlated with the seedcoat oil content and the 1000-seed weight. The oil content of the embryo alone has a highly significant negative correlation with 1000-seed weight. In yellow seeds, the seedcoat thickness has a large and directly positive effect on the oil content of the embryo whereas the 1000-seed weight has a negative one; the opposite was found in brown seeds. Selection objectives in breeding yellow seeds in Brassica napus are also discussed.

Too much sun light. The leaves are being burned by so much direct sunlight. Morning glories need light but not all day, direct sunlight. Hope that was helpful!

lets just say that yellow is rr and orange is Rr and red is RR.

A)rr x RR makes all orange or Rr

B)Rr x Rr makes a 1:2:1 ratio 1RR:2Rr:1rr

C)Rr x rr makes a 1:1 ratio orange:yellow

D)Rr x RR makes another 1:1 ratio Red:orange

Where would I find out about antique brass base lamp with white body with yellow flowers & tied shade, woodlock

what the hell are you talkin about?

I have a celery green shower curtain with small flowers in 2 shades of pink. Can I paint the walls yellow?

I say yes you can! If you look at nature there are flowers with green stems and leaves and they are pink with yellow centers. I would go with a soft yellow, or at least not as dark as the darkest pink flower. I would then make sure that you have pink accents around the bathroom, but make them the softies shade of pink on the curtain. Don't go overboard, just make sure you have something small with pink on it on each wall or counter. It could be a frame or vase of flowers or what I like to do is a small lamp. I would then find towels with all three colors (strips or pattern like your shower curtain) in them. If you can't find a set of towels with all three colors than find a set of all three colors but in solids. I would put the largest green towel on the rack first. Then on top of that I would put the hand towel in yellow and then on top of that the wash cloth in the pink. Make sure your pink is a softies shade. If you buy three full sets of towels you can change how you put them up. Use pinks soaps and green bottles around the room. Sounds like it will be pretty. Good luck!

I have a celery green shower curtain with small flowers in 2 shades of pink. Can I paint the walls yellow?
Yes those colors look well together. Just make sure it's a nice light yellow. Maybe a pastel yellow. Not a lemon or banana yellow.
Reply:Sure, but i would try to find a small picture or a few hand towels that have some of all the colors in them, to combine them better. And yes a pale golden yellow, not a bright lemon.
Reply:Paint the walls and decorate the rest of the bathroom in all shades of White (Ivory, Cream, etc), monochromatically. It will make the room look soft and soothing and make the detail on the shower curtain stand out. Then add some decor (wall art, candles, towels) to pick up on the greens and pinks in the curtain.
Reply:I think yellow - like a bright, mustrady yellow -would be fine. It would go nicely with the green and pink.
Reply:NOOO it won't match at all i wouldn't do it it might turn out like Easter eggs
Reply:Yes you can. It'll look very springy and airy. To have complete color harmony in any room, it's important to use 3 colors. The colors here, celery green, pink (in 2 shades) and yellow will be perfect together!

i'm not sure what you mean by "we are do it hawaiian"

you can use any flower anywhere, doesn't have to be native or "exotic"

esp if you are staying in the cheap range.

Do they sell cactus' with fake flowers?

I just got a cactus and it appears to have a little yellow flower glued on it. It's fake, right? The tag refers to it as a "straw flower" so wait.. is it going to die or is it just a decoration? The type is "fairy castle cactus"

Do they sell cactus' with fake flowers?
There is a straw flower and it is real but looks fake. We ordered them all the time at the flower shop.I have never seen one on a cactus but doubt it is a fake flower.Look at a g arden center for the straw flower,I planted them last year.
Reply:its a fake flower i got a little catus for christmas liek 4 years ago and now its grown over the flower and i have not seen 1 flower bloom off its so yea its a fake flower
Reply:Like everything else at Home Depot, it looks a lot cooler than it is. Fairy castle will get a whole ring of pinkish flowers around the top of the cactus. It will only happen for a week a year and only on new growth.

Use cactus potting soil, cactus fertilizer, give it TONS of sun and dry air if possible. Water it as often as a normal plant from February to August, then only give it sips (no fertilizer) until Christmas. Then give it a big drink and enjoy the fairies and queens in the castle.
Reply:I know what you mean - many cactus blossoms look like a fake, but they are real.

They are fertilised and climatised before sale so that they will bloom at the time of sale. I can guarantee you that - unless you becaome an cactus expert - you will never again manage to get it to bloom at home.

Have a look at http://www.fguenther.de/kakteen/fotos1/f... for example, and you'll see that many blossoms look kind of artificial.

And don't pay attention to name tags. Any store, even high quality garden centres, just sell their cacti under fantasy names, or real names but apllied to the wrong plant. It is only in absolutely specialised shops that you will get the correct and complete botanical name and an appropriate "manual".
Reply:that may be a real flower. the flower on the cactus is a bright yellow just like the only you think is fake. take a photo of your cactus flower now and again in 3 weeks and them see if it grew or started to wilt. if it unchanges take another photo 1 month from then, and if it is still unchanged it is fake.

here is a page that tells a little about the fairy castle catus

What does it mean when cyclamen leaves turn yellow?

My previously robust cyclamen's leaves have turned yellow and flowers have faded - is this a sign of overwatering or heat?

What does it mean when cyclamen leaves turn yellow?
Yellow leaves can be caused by too much warmth or not enough light. It can also happen when a plant is kept too wet.

I have a plant on my desk at work. I'm pretty sure it is Daisy's. White flowers with a yellow center.

They are looking very bad! How do I take care of them? I do not have a green anything and really don't want them to die.

Please help!!

I have a plant on my desk at work. I'm pretty sure it is Daisy's. White flowers with a yellow center.
If they are cut flowers, they will ultimately die. If it is a potted plant, remove flowers as they fade this encourages reblooming, remove yellowed leaves for aesthetic reasons, give mild fertilizer solution. Best office plants are those that don't require much sunlight: Impatiens, pothos, zebra plant, spider plant, there are lots.
Reply:Sounds like a kind of daisy. They need a lot of sun and most offices don't have it. They also don't like to be overwatered, so if they are very wet all the time, they are not happy. Best idea is to take them home and plant them outside.
Reply:I would take the plant home and cut it off about 2 inches from the bottom and put it in a sunny window and start fertilizing it about once amonth it will look pretty ugly for a little while but it will throw out new shoots and pretty soon it will look good again(I had a mum I just had to do this to) go to the grocery store and by a shamrock plant to put on your desk since st Padd'ys day is just around the corner! They are a nice bloomiing plant for the season.

In so. calif. will i be able to obtain yellow orange and white flowers for a wedding arangement?

Florists in Southern California sell every color of flowers year round. If you are planning to gather them yourself from a friend's garden, there are plants that bloom in Southern California at this time of the year, but not that many, and if it happens to be a rainy day, the flowers may be rather bedraggled.

In so. calif. will i be able to obtain yellow orange and white flowers for a wedding arangement?
Cut flower business is a global enterprise. You can get anything but you should place an order in advance when you want specific flowers. Sounds like you are not referring to garden flowers.

In Japan, I received yellow and blue flowers (I think they are roses) from a Japanese girl. Meaning? Intent?

We went out to dinner/karaoke several times with other friends. I don't know what the colors mean or what her intent is. I think yellow means friendship, but perhaps it's different in other countries? And the blue ones?

In Japan, I received yellow and blue flowers (I think they are roses) from a Japanese girl. Meaning? Intent?
The bright and sunny color of yellow suggests warmth and happiness. the warmth and happiness of the yellow rose is an ideal symbol for joy and friendship. it's like saying "can we be friends?" or "I'm glad to be your friend". Blue roses on the other hand are atypical/ uncommon because there are no blue roses before coz they lack the pigment delphinidin (pigment that produces true blue flowers), but thru genetic engineering a Japanese company created a blue rose. Blue roses symbolizes attaining the impossible.

But maybe the roses mean something different to her or she might have just love those roses

The fact that she gave you roses means that you're someone special to her, as a friend or anything, nonetheless you're still special to her!
Reply:As most other people said, it's the meaning you give it. I think she's just saying she likes you, either as a good friend, or has a crush on you and she's trying to tell you that. It's really sweet of her to give you flowers, I think you need to give her some in return, or at least thank her in some kind, thoughtful way.
Reply:Flowers are flowers. It means she likes you. Go for it if you like her.

I lived in Japan for 3 years and no girl ever gave me flowers.
Reply:yellow roses are for happiness and blue ones for attraction
Reply:I would say that she likes you, that's why she gave you the flowers.

It's more likely she would be thinking of what the colours mean to YOU, not to herself.

I don't think she meant for you to be searching as to some secret meaning.

This reminds me of something. I went down to a local Karma (home centre) and noticed they were selling nice little bunches of flowers for a reasonable price. I bought some and put them on my table at home to brighten things up. My Japanese gf came over and laughed. Those were flowers for putting on graves. I still kept them. They looked nice.

The only thing I can get from your message here is that you've got a new girlfriend (if you want). Have fun.
Reply:the sure way to know her real intent is by asking her.me...i only give flowers to someone whom i have big affection.
Reply:there're lots of meaning in language of flowers.

depends on countries, books or person.

so i just can say she feel attracted to you.

she wants your attention!!

Whats the meaning of a red flower or yellow flowers as a gift to a girl u like?

Red Rose - the red rose is primarily a symbol of love, both platonic and romantic, as well as symbolizing the heights of passion.

White Rose - this flower symbolizes purity, innocence and serenity, hence its traditional popularity in bridal bouquets.

Yellow Rose - this is a symbol of friendship and happiness, as are most yellow flowers.

Cream Rose - the cream rose is associated with charm, grace and thoughfulness.

Lily - these elegant flowers have always been a symbol of purity.

Sunflowers - surprisingly, sunflowers are associated with haughtiness.

Tulip - the vibrant tulip is a symbol for fame.

Violets - this flower is associated with modesty

Whats the meaning of a red flower or yellow flowers as a gift to a girl u like?
Well red is the colour of love, lust, anger - basically intense emotion. Giving a girl red flowers means you definitely feel something for her. Yellow is the colour of sunshine, happiness and... friendship. So I suggest you don't give yellow - it's quite informal.
Reply:Yellow is for friends and red is for the one you love.
Reply:a red flower says I love you ...a yellow flower says best friends...go to bhand gardens.com
Reply:it shows that you think of them and the flowers smell good :D
Reply:THIS ANSWER IS A FLOWER IS NOT JUST A FLOWER UNTIL

U REALY MEAN IT AND RED IS A MEANING OF BEAUTY OF THE RED FACE WHEN U REALY TEL HERE THAT U LOVE HERE AND NOT LIE TO HERE AND YELLOW I RELLY DONT LIKE FOR IT MEANS THAT THERE ARE GOING TO LIE TO U AND SAY IM SORRY I WONT MAKE IT TODAY SO LOOK OUT

FOR THOUSE COLORS FOR I ALREDY KNOW MINE OK GOD BE WITH ALL OF U
Reply:if u give her red flowers it mans u like/love her n u wana show dat but if u give her yellow flowers it just means frendship
Reply:You give yellow flowers to friends and red flowers to lovers.
Reply:red means love and yellow means you were to cheep to get another red flower
Reply:it depends on the type of the flower
Reply:My personal opinion.....red rose would always mean love and romance.
Reply:Any girl with half a brain would just think it was a sweet thoughtful gesture. If a girl is going to think that you gave her red flowers because you love her or since you give her yellow ones that you just want to be friends then she's an idiot! Save your flowers for someone with a brain that will take into context the kind of relationship you have.
Reply:love and friendship

red love

yellow friendship
Reply:well it depends on the flowers but actually red means u love her and yellow means u want to b friends with her
Reply:Red is usually taken as romantic, especially if it's roses. If you give yellow roses, the symbolism behind them is "diminished love" or that you aren't as in love as you were . . .

Reply:red=love
Reply:for Roses:

* Red roses mean romantic love; they're the "Valentine roses," par excellence.

* Purple, coral and orange challenge red as the color for Valentine roses. The rose color meanings for these 3 are as follows:

o The specific purpose of purple roses is to signify that the giver has fallen in love with the recipient at first sight.

Meanwhile, coral and orange roses signal desire.

* The meaning of yellow roses is joy and friendship.

* We express our gratitude and appreciation with pink roses....

* While feelings of admiration and sympathy find words with roses that are light pink in color.

* Peach is more ambiguous, as it can signify either sympathy or gratitude.

* Their purity naturally enough lends to white roses the meaning of reverence and humility.
Reply:That chu really, really, REALLY, horny.
Reply:These are the meaning for a rose, this also works for other flowers...Not everyone likes roses so you can give a different kind of flower to a girl who don't like roses but the meaning is ture for all flowers

Red roses are the traditional symbol for love and romance, and a time-honored way to say "I love you." The red rose has long symbolized beauty and perfection. A bouquet of red roses is the perfect way to express your deep feelings for someone special.

As a symbol of grace and elegance, the pink rose is often given as an expression of admiration. Pink roses can also convey appreciation as well as joyfulness. Pink rose bouquets often impart a gentler meaning than their red counterparts.

The bright, sunny color of yellow roses evokes a feeling of warmth and happiness. The warm feelings associated with the yellow rose are often akin to those shared with a true friend. As such, the yellow rose is an ideal symbol for joy and friendship.

White roses represent innocence and purity and are traditionally associated with marriages and new beginnings. The white rose is also a symbol of honor and reverence, and white rose arrangements are often used as an expression of remembrance.

With their blazing energy, orange roses are the embodiment of desire and enthusiasm. Orange roses often symbolize passion and excitement and are an expression of fervent romance. A bouquet of orange roses will send a meaningful message.

The unique beauty of the lavender rose has captured many hearts and imaginations. With their fantastical appearance, lavender roses are a perfect symbol of enchantment. The lavender rose is also traditionally used to express feelings of love at first sight.

What purpose do yellow-jackets and hornets serve?

Bees make honey and pollinate flowers. Yellow-jackets and hornets eat meat and kill bees. Are they just parasites or do they do some good for the ecosystem?

What purpose do yellow-jackets and hornets serve?
they pollinate too...well i think so

they help regulate the bee poulation...if bees were not regulted it would thro off the whole ecosystem
Reply:Question: Why are you asking such a retarted question?

Let once sting you and you'll see why.

Reply:I am not too sure but I know they are all part of the ecosystem and they are neat creatures. And man they hurt like heck when they bite!! I was stung/bit (i think they do both) by yellow jackets about 10 times....stepped on a nest hiking in the woods...it was so painful and the next day my hand/back where they got me were swollen and I was really nauseous for some reason. I heard that can happen depending on what they have been eating.....not sure that is a fact though.

Spanish verison of "ode to some yellow flowers" by pablo neruda?

"Oda a Unas Flores Amarillas"

Contra el azul moviendo sus azules,

el mar, y contra el ecielo,

unas flores amarillas.

Octubre llega.

Y aunque sea

tan importante el mar desarrollando

su mito, su misión, su levadura,

estalla

sobre la arena oro

de una sola

planta amarilla

y se amarran

tus ojos

a la tierra,

huyen del magno mar y sus latidos.

Polvo somos, seremos.

Ni aire, ni fuego, ni agua

sino

tierra,

sólo tierra

seremos

y tal vez

unas flores amarillas.

Spanish verison of "ode to some yellow flowers" by pablo neruda?
ODA AL LIMÓN

De aquellos azahares

desatados

por la luz de la luna,

de aquel

olor de amor

exasperado,

hundido en la fragancia

salió

del limonero el amarillo,

desde su planetario

bajaron a la tierra los limones.

¡Tierna mercadería!

Se llenaron las costas,

los mercados,

de luz, de oro

silvestre,

y abrimos

dos mitades

de milagro,

ácido congelado

que corría

desde los hemisferios

de una estrella,

y el licor más profundo

de la naturaleza,

intransferible, vivo,

irreductible

nació de la frescura

del limón,

de su casa fragante,

de su ácida, secreta simetría.

En el limón cortaron

los cuchillos

una pequeña

catedral,

el ábside escondido

abrió a la luz los ácidos vitrales

y en gotas

resbalaron los topacios,

los altares,

la fresca arquitectura.

Así, cuando tu mano

empuña el hemisferio

del cortado

limón sobre tu plato

un universo de oro

derramaste,

una

copa amarilla

con milagros,

uno de los pezones olorosos

del pecho de la tierra,

el rayo de la luz que se hizo fruta,

el fuego diminuto de un planeta.

Information about yellow tulip flower?

Specifically, i want to know the scientific name and the meaning behind "the yellow tulip". I've tried wikipedia and a bunch of google searches, but I just can't seem to find the information I want about them.

Any flower gardeners out there that can help me out?

Information about yellow tulip flower?
Tulip (Yellow) - There's Sunshine in Your Smile

http://www.feldis.com/s/meaning.htm
Reply:i'm pretty darn sure the scientific name for it is: tulipa fosteriana. which is "golden Emperor" aka "Golden purissima" aka "yellow emperor"

the meaning: it's evolved from "hopeless love" to "cheerful thoughts and sunshine"
Reply:Tulipa x hybrida or Tulipa sp. If you mean just basic tulips, their ancestry is so mixied up , and been domesticated so long (1500's, at least), that there's no species, as we normally think of it.

I need to identify a yellow flower that blooms at night?

The flowers open fairly rapidly and close in the morning. It also resembles a tobacco plant. I live on the SC coast.

I need to identify a yellow flower that blooms at night?
I think you have a Datura but which one I don't know. Mine is pure white and opens just as you describe and quite fragrant. And yes, it is related to tobacco. If there are any fruits or pods on the plant they should be spiny. See link below for a more complete discussion.
Reply:It could be an Evening Primrose. The flower is about the size of a quarter and has a sweet smell. The flower has 4 petals. A picture would help make the i.d. easier.
Reply:not sure
Reply:there is a plan ti know as " four o'clock"

it has blooms like tobacco ( nicotina)

blooms in the afternoon and closes again . Also come in dark pink
Reply:four o'clocks. they grow like crazy! they can grow very fast and do best in the shade or in cooler places like beside a basement or under trees. they constantly drop seeds. if you plant just one in the spring, you will have a garden by summer. they really are pretty and make up for bushes that take a long time to grow and four o'clocks do great against blights and diseases. they dont really have a smell but they are a wonderful little starter plant and can grow very tall. good luck with them :) they are hard to kill too. so if you mow over them and didnt mean to, they will be back.

Why are the leaves on my geranium flower turning yellow?

i have always heard to pull off the leaves when they turn yellow and new ones will grow back. well, i have plenty of flower blooms, but no leaves, and it doesn't look like any new leaves are coming in. any suggestions?

Why are the leaves on my geranium flower turning yellow?
It could be you have been over-watering or perhaps you over-fertilized and burned the leaves.
Reply:check the soil and the roots of the plants. Two problems, one too much water, two bugs. if the soil is too wet let it dry out some before watering again. If its bugs there are several products on the market. Also the nitrogen in the soil may be too rich. I use miracle grow potting soil that has a balance of nitrogen in the soil.
Reply:you are watering the flowers to much
Reply:Needs feeding and probably does not have good drainage. Make sure there is drain holes in the bottom of the pot. Feed with Miracle grow, they love it and it will grow leaves back. Good Luck.
Reply:could be lack of sufficient light or water. Geraniums usually can tolerate a lot of neglect - they do best that way. If you fertilise too much you get leaves instead of flowers. your plant seems to b the opposite so I think it could be either the light situation or water.

hope that helps
Reply:I believe you are over-watering the poor thing.

How do flowers come up every year?¿?

My mom and dad planted these tulips (I think that's what they're: yellow flower type plants) around our mailbox and every year they come up, how is it that they continue to come up after all these years?¿

How do flowers come up every year?¿?
they are perennial bulbs, plant once and they grow year after year, difference between annuals and perennials, annuals need to be planted every year (in most cases) then there are biannuals....
Reply:It's what they do....plants have been doing it for millions of years. The grass in your yard does it too.

You have found a new species of plants some have yellow and some have red flowers there offspring are orange?
It is a co-dominant phenomena. The phenotypes of the offspring will be orange, red, and yellow. The ration of both genotype and phenotype will be 1 to 2 to 1, with respect of red, orange, and yellow.

Imelda grass should be another name for Manila grass, Zoysia matrella, which is creeping and has yellow flowers:

Mmm.. it really depends on your taste. Tulips are great and orchids are beautiful but really expensive. Maybe roses. You could go with lilies too.. or a Calla lily.. my favorite. Crysanthemums are nice too.. check my questions for a flower site..

The flowers have fallen off my orchid & the stem is a little yellow, have I killed it? How do I make it better

There really isn't enough information to be able to tell you what is wrong. It could be that your orchid is finished flowering and the stalk is dying back in which case you can just cut it off. It could be that you are over watering it in which case you need to cut back on the water. If the leaves of your orchid are wrinkled and creased as well as the stalk turning yellow then you are not watering enough. We need more information on how you've been caring for it and if you've done anything different to it lately like repotting, moving it to a new location, or feeding it. We also need to what kind of Orchid it is to be able to help you better.

Just check the yellow pages in your area. You have a vendors license so there shouldn't be any problem.

What is the name of a yellow flower or any flower that closes immediately when wet (rain)?

just wanted to know, because i remember seeing one when i was very young. thanks

What is the name of a yellow flower or any flower that closes immediately when wet (rain)?
Many flowers close at dusk as the light fades or temperatures cool off. For those that are light sensitive they will similarly close with heavy cloud cover. The Swedish botanist Carolus Linnaeus actually worked out a clock based upon flowers to tell time.

The scarlet pimpernel opens its flower at 8:00 AM and closes it at 2:00 PM. The dandelion opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 5:00 PM. The morning glory opens at 10:00 and closes at dusk. The water lily opens at noon and closes at 2:00 PM. Goatsbeard opens at noon and closes at 6:00 pm. California poppy opens at 1:00 PM and closes at dusk. Chicory opens at 2:00 PM and closes at 5:00 PM. Four-o'clock opens at 4:00 PM and evening primose opens at 6:00 PM.

This is the origin of the weather saying:

When the pink-eyed pimpernel closes in the day time it is a sign or rain.

Pimpernel, pimpernel, tell me true

Whether the weather will be fine or no;

No heart can think, no tongue can tell,

The virtues of the pimpernel

Folk lore journal from 1889

Closed is the pink-eyed pimpernel:

`Twill surely rain;

I see with sorrow,

Our jaunt must be put off to-morrow.

Anagallis arvensis is the Scarlet Pimpernel. The petals are very sensitive, the flowers closing at once if the sky becomes overcast and threatens rain. Typically opening between eight and nine in the morning and shutting up before three o'clock in the afternoon.

The flowers of Oxalis martiana open in the morning and close in the afternoon also.

Tulips %26amp; crocus close when it gets cooler primarily but they also respond to light this way.

The purpose of closing may be to protect the reproductive organs when the day pollinators are not available. Bees for example need bright, warm weather to fly.

What are the best flowers to plant so deer wont eat them...?
One of the best sites I have seen is the one listed below...it has more ideas than I can name here, but check it out...scroll to the bottom of the page.
Reply:Plant some cactus here and there.
Reply:I swear our deer will eat rocks!

I can't find a flower they won't damage.

I love the deer but they are stretching my patience.
Reply:Our deer seem to eat everything!!!! Try going to a local nursery, they will be knowledgable about this. Or, give them a call. I have decided hanging baskets are the only way to go for us.
Reply:There is no plant Deer won't eat. You can purchase "Big Cat" (lion and tiger) manure from the garden centers. This practice was discovered in China and is just now catching on in the states. They have learned that spreading this "dung" around your property scares off Rabbits, Raccoons, Groundhogs, and even Deer.
Reply:Try marigolds. Also, we buy Irish Spring soap and cut it into chunks. Put the chunks in cheesecloth and hand from a pole in your garden (do several in your garden, not just one). They don't like the smell of Irish Spring so they stay away. Also, I've heard if you put human hair in your garden the deer will stay away. Ask you beautician next time you get your hair cut if you can have her clippings.
Reply:I plant marigolds and the deer here (upper MI) won't touch them. I also use Liquid Fence around my garden and flower beds and that keeps those pesty deer away. Keeps the other plant munching critters away too.
Reply:I do landscaping... I get a lot of specialty plants like deer- resistant through Michigan Bulb. They usually have a good selection.

What is the name of this yellow flower?

We ate a couple of times at this restaurant called Il Camino between Terni and Spoleto in Umbria. One night they gave us a little thing of flowers. It was yellow and the flowers were small and kind of poofy. I meant to ask what it was called, but forgot. It seemed like they grew sort of like baby's breath. Any clue what it might be called?

What is the name of this yellow flower?
I think you were given "mimosa": They are one of the first flowers of spring here in Italy and they are usually given out on March 8th, women's day. Here is a picture:

http://www.greenquest.com/mainvert/fleur...
Reply:i think i know what your talking about. but its not clear, i mean these flowers you were given were edible or non edible? the ones i think you are talking about are non edible are given in some what like branches of them not one by one. the custom is that every woman is given one on the Day of the Women, which is celebrated i think in april, or around that period. so its common to see the ladies walking aroudn holding one on that special day. however, if i knew the name of the flower, id tell you, but if it comes to mind later on ill write it down.
Reply:the only flower i can think of, which is also yellow and a little bit poofy is taraxacum. which is eatable in salads and soups but mostly it's leaves are tasty. try to be more specific explaining how is that flower, maybe i will remember something ells, if no, i can cheek it for u in here.

try to copy the name of the flower and cheek if u recognize it in the images of yahoo.

Nice Nasturtiums

Watercress is cultivated mainly in Southern England and can also be found near fast-flowing streams. It is available all year round and its pungent peppery flavour adds a kick to salads.

* maybe its erba iva??? that is a small small flower yellow and wight, it has a great tast, bitter-sweet and u can put it in soups and salads and mostly fix a great alpin tea?

* or.... hehehe achillea????

* what the last answer u have recived is talking about is the mimosa, but it's not eatable.
Reply:I'm guessing but it was possibly courgette flowers as they are quite a delicacy in Italy. Usually they're dipped in a light batter and quickly deep fried. Not sure what baby's breath is.

Update: Ah, if they're tiny, probably not what I suggested then.
Reply:Another possible answer is "nasturtiums", a yellow or orange flower. They grow almost like a weed, very quickly, that is. They don't have a sweet scent, but they have a beautiful flower...

Do hydrangeas come in yellow?

What other yellow flowers would you recommend? for a summer wedding?

I personally love hydrangeas because they make powerful statements as centerpieces

what do you think?

Do hydrangeas come in yellow?
I love hydrangeas and have them all over my yard. I've seen white ones and the standard "depends on the acidity of the soil" ones (blue, purple, pink) .. but I've never seen a yellow one unless they were tinted (like green carnations).

They're gorgeous no matter what color they are!

Buttercups (daffodils) are lovely yellow flowers.

Black-eyed susans, tulips, roses ...
Reply:NO. There color is between white, pink and blue and shades in between. The color is determined by the soil pH. so your pink hydrangea could under the right conditions become purple to blue, or the other way around.

I can't think of any yellow flowers for a wedding arrangement
Reply:I've never seen yellow hydrangeas. They come in a range of colors starting with blue, through violet, rose, and pale pink that almost verges on white, but they are almost always in the red-blue spectrum. You might be able to dye some yellow if you start with the almost-white hydrangea.

There are all sorts of day lilies in yellow, daisies, roses, and white lilacs can be dyed yellow.

Does a Dandelion start out as a yellow flower or the poofy seed thing kids make wishes with?

my one friend just will not believe me that it starts out as a yellow flower. and i just want to know which one of us is right. so like right as it grows out of the ground is a dandelion a yellow flower OR the poofy seed thing?

Does a Dandelion start out as a yellow flower or the poofy seed thing kids make wishes with?
It comes up as a tight green bud, opens into a bright yellow flower, then the flower withers and the poofy seed things develop, ready to carry the seeds somewhere else so the whole process can begin again.

You are 100% correct in this.

Where do you live that there aren't dandelions around to demonstrate? In our yard, they grow year round and they are very vigorous in their growth.
Reply:That "poofy" thing is a dead dandelion, which was yellow.
Reply:It starts out as the yellow flower. As it dies it changes into the poofy seed thing.
Reply:First of it starts out as a doesnt start out as a white puffly thingy ma boober and it doesn't start out as a yellow flower ahem cough-weed-cough. Anydoodles it has its own cycle and second why in the world do you care! You must be like really bored or somethin
Reply:The yellow flower is waiting to be pollinated. Then the " poofy " thing are the seeds of the plant being distributed.
Reply:The normal development of any flower is sprouting, budding, blooming (the flower) and going to seed.

The flower is used to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. They move from flower to flower and fertilize the female blooms with the male pollen. When that's done, the seeds can develop.

Dandelion seeds have "wings" because they are meant to be spread by the wind. Milkweed and yucca plants do the same thing. Cottonwood trees also have them.

Did you know that every part of the dandelion plant is edible? The young leaves can be added to salads. The blooms (flowers) can be fried in butter. You can even make dandelion wine from the plants. DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW NO ONE HAS SPRAYED WEED KILLER ON THEM.
Reply:One of those seeds becomes a yellow flower and than turns into a bunch of seeds.
